Google Messenger App - Replaces Your SMS/MMS App, But Won't Kill WhatsApp (Yet)
The new messenger app comes pre-installed with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop, but is now available for all your devices powered by Android 4.1 or higher. The app runs happily along with the hangouts and is capable of tapping into your existing SMS and MMS. The app does offer Google cool new 'material design' look and also has the ability to let you send/receive audio messages. The official description of the app also points at allowing the users to block SMS senders, emoji support, colorful message threads (discussions) along with message archiving; if you need it.
As of writing this article, the App's received a rating of 4.4 stars from over 5,000 people on Google Play. Head over to the download link (below the article) and give it a try. Make sure that your phone or tablet is running Android 4.1+ (Jelly Bean).
The App currently runs only on Android platform and we are not sure if Google plans to make this app available on other platforms anytime in future. Do let us know your thoughts on the new app and what might Google be thinking with their latest messaging app.
