Google Launches Calico To Save Humans
Google has always been on the forefront of pursuing innovation in technology (hardware and software), and now they are venturing into a new domain which includes looking for improvements and methods to maintain human health and well being. And hence Google has created a company named Calico which would have the responsibility of finding ways to extend the human life. Apple's board member and former CEO of Genentech, Art Levinson, will be roped in as Calico's CEO. Larry Page, Google's CEO stressed that aging and illness affect families and thinking around healthcare and biotechnology can improve a million lives.
Larry Page wants Calico to go as far it can go. According to him, if diseases like Cancer would be treated, it would be adding three years to people's average life expectancy. Though Cancer is just an example to shed light on how determined and focussed they are on making the company a success, there will obviously be more promising projects done under Calico that would ensure that humans can be saved from any kind diseases.
With Google entering into a new field, do you think they can pull this off with all the expertise and success in the software and gadget world?

It isn't yet clear on what kind of products Calico would be building since Google did not announce about any product or project under Calico. Levinson would still be the board member of Apple and Genentech, which marks an indirect and shallow collaboration of Apple and Google.Larry Page wants Calico to go as far it can go.
