Google+ has introduced way lots of games to the site, including the current favorite Angry Birds, along with popular games like Bejeweled Blitz, Zynga Poker, and Dragon Age Legends, thus giving Facebook a tough contest to become the ultimate social networking site. Google senior vice president of engineering Vic Gundotra said in a #-Link-Snipped-#, "We want to make playing games online just as fun, and just as meaningful, as playing in real life. When you're ready to play, the Games page is waiting." #-Link-Snipped-#
A complete version of Crime City allows Google+ members act as a ruthless crime boss. Ken Chiu, chief executive of Funzio said, "We're excited to partner with Google to bring Crime City to Google+ users. We can't wait to release more great games on Google+ in the future." Crime City's Facebook version gained instant popularity when released in September last year.
No longer had Google+ added the games, Facebook advertised a set of new features for online gaming with friends. Facebook's Jared Morgenstern said in a post at the social network's blog, "When you're playing games, you'll now see a separate stream of your friends' game activity, scores and achievements in a ticker. The best way to find new games is through friends, and now you'll have more opportunities to see what they're playing." Facebook raised the screen size of games, and made bookmarking favorite titles or adjusting settings regarding which friends can see what is being played, a lot more simpler according to Morgenstern.
Games are among the most favored activities on Facebook, where social game startup Zynga achieved stardom. Maximum Google+ users, about 6.4 million, are based in the United States, followed by India, with 3.6 million, Canada, with 1.1 million, Britain, with 1.1 million, and Germany with a little over 920,000, according to online tracker comScore. Although Google is a newbie to social networking, but its new site, Google+, has developed rapidly to more than 10 million members since its arrival on June 28. Though Google+ may be the quickest-growing social network ever, whether it can contest Facebook in social networking still remains to be seen.
