Google Compute Engine Is Infrastructure As A Service Offering Linux Virtual Machines

Google operates very large, efficient and high performing data centers across the world. Google's opening their infrastructure to developers with large scale computing needs with a new service called #-Link-Snipped-#. The compute engine joins Google's other cloud offerings like App Engine, Cloud Storage and BigQuery. The Google Compute Engine offers Google's own infrastructure as a service that lets you operate a large number of Linux Virtual Machines. It will let the developers launch enormous compute structures with tens of thousands of cores with no-compromise performance and value for money. Google says that the Compute Engine will give the developers & businesses 50% more compute for every dollar than the competitors (Amazon, listening?).

With the Compute Engine, developers will be able to launch Linux VMs with 1, 2, 4 & 8 virtual cores offering 3.75 GB RAM / core. There will be several storage options including Google Cloud Storage. The VMs can be networked internally to form clusters. Google offers API so that devs can create their own VM management system or use command line / GUI based system offered by Google. Check out #-Link-Snipped-# page for further details.
