Google Chrome Updates To Make Omnibox Smarter & Faster On Windows & Mac OSX

If you're reading this post using Google Chrome, there's a high chance that Chrome has updated itself to version 17 silently. The new Chrome makes your web browsing experience faster and better with a smarter Omnibox. The update is available on both Windows and OSX platforms and if you're still stuck with Microsoft's Internet Explorer (7,8,9) we strongly recommend you to #-Link-Snipped-# the latest version of Google Chrome. According to Google Chrome's #-Link-Snipped-#, the latest update makes Chrome secure and fetches the web pages even before you visit them. Interesting, right?

What Google Chrome will do is make a smart guess at the website or web page you're likely to visit while you're tying the name or search keywords in the Omnibox. It will also use your browsing history to make the guess and start loading the webpage in the background. That means your favorite website gets loaded even faster once you hit the 'enter' key. We tried it on our Chrome on Mac and #-Link-Snipped-# loaded almost instantly! Give it a try!

On the security side; Chrome now prevents you from accidentally downloading malicious content. Chrome will verify the file you're trying to download with a list of known bad files and alert you if it finds anything sucpiscious. It will also check for the files with extensions .exe and .msi. If the file being downloaded does not match the whitelist, Chrome will take extra efforts and search for relevant file information online. For example, Chrome will check whether the site you are downloading your file from hosts large number of malicious files.

Google also promises to roll out updates to the Chrome OS on the Chromebook in near future. It promises to include an image editor so that making basic edits to your images will be possible right within Google Chrome. Verizon 3G portal is also getting an update with an option to enable recurring purchase of mobile data.

Do let us know your experience of using Google Chrome and why you ditched the mighty Mozilla Firefox. We know you did.
