GlassBridge Converts Android Apps To Glass Apps
Not quite like turning water into wine, but GlassBridge impresses with its ability to turn Android apps to Glass apps. Glass runs Android, which is convenient, only it does not run it in the same way. The hardware isn't designed to run native Android apps and even if some Android apps do manage to run on the Glass, they sure wouldn't be easy to launch. Still Glass is going to need its set of apps. But why reinvent the wheel when GlassBridge can make the transition smoother? It takes native Android apps and Bookmarks and places them in a Timeline UI, so that they don't hamper with the Glass experience. The clutter is lost without having to start from scratch.
It's still early to predict much about Google Glass, though one can be sure there is a lot to expect from the Google Explorer program. GlassBridge, itself is a good way to explore the device, one that works without rooting the headset. The recent update on Glass-friendly browser while welcome, was lacking in proper bookmarking system or the ability to login. Here, Glassbridge can be used to allow for a more Glass-friendly set of controls. This is essentially done using the Android Debug Bridge to load an app that syncs with a Glassware app. If you're an Android developer interested in extending your app to Glass, you can #-Link-Snipped-#.
