Gionee Proposes a new R&D Center in India

Undoubtedly, one of the fastest growing smartphones on the planet, Gionee now wants to double its buyers in the land of mobile fanatics. Motivated with its last year's performance, with a huge turnover of Rs. 2750, Chinese handset maker has an urge to proliferate its customers to 8 million in India in comparison to 4 million, the previous year. Gionee also showed a huge success globally last year, but Gionee's team of twelve skilled team of twelve workers feels that localizing products in India can create a boom in their sales. Hence, this Chinese brand of mobile phones has decided to give a breakthrough in its manufacturing unit with an aim to raise its customers to 8 million. To make itself as one of the leading brands in the country, Gionee will setup a Research & Development unit in the country along with its thirty employers.

The company is likely to spend Rs. 225 crores on advertising in order to localise products for Indian market. According to Gionee president William Lu, with a total investoment of Rs.300, Gionee wants to grab four percent share from its Indian customers. It may also setup a manufacturing unit in India. According to him, the company will kick start this whole process by the end of this year at two locations (yet undisclosed). However, Hyderabad seems to be one of the choices from them.

It seems a success in Indian government's plans on letting other tech companies make their products in India. This can add up positively to country's economy as such prominent Chinese companies like Huawei and Gionee aim to pull off their work.
