Get Free SMS Alerts From Delhi Traffic Police To Avoid Road Congestion
Commuters in Delhi often face the problem of traffic congestion due to political rallies or road blocks, religious processions, accidents and strikes that are common in the nation's capital. To address the issue, Delhi Traffic Police has introduced a free SMS alert service that lets subscribers get information about city's traffic situation and updates about road diversion in accordance with congestion points. Those who wish to avail this service need to send a SMS by writing âS DTP Nameâ to 9811452220, the official number. It has been declared that those who send this SMS will be registered within 24 hours and start receiving the traffic updates in Delhi on their mobile phone. If at any point of time, you wish to unsubscribe, just send a SMS writing 'S REM' to the same number.
This initiative comes as a result of the Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister's SMART policy. With this service, those without a smartphone (no need for internet connection) can get SMS alerts about the traffic free of cost. This scheme was launched by Mr. Bhim Sain Bassi, the Commissioner of Police in Delhi, in association with MoIT or the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the government body that provides the Delhi Police with free bulk SMSes for an year under the Mobile Seva e-governance initiative.
Other than traffic, there are a variety of public services from the Delhi Police that can be availed via SMS to the same number. These include - a service to get the details of one or more Pending Notices issued for violation committed by a particular vehicle registration number (for commuters) and information regarding vehicle ownership (for Delhi Traffic Police).
For getting information about the pending notices for a registration number, send a SMS as -
