    I hava a dout...
    please clarify

    My generator has a rated powerfactor of 0.8 as specified in their name plate, what happened if i have run the generator at 0.9 - 0.95 PF(because of increasing PF we have more units export to grid)

    there is no pf in dc generator ... in alternator , we can control power factor by adding capacitor banks outside of alternator... but there is no chance for modification in alternator........ i hope u understand.........

    No, in AC alternator we have to vary its individual power factor by adjusting the VAr/PF controller(field Excitation). Please refer and explain otherwise dont confuse me...

    For generators, P.F. is not improved using capacitor banks because it adds load to generator. Further the generator designed p.f. is for its alternator will work on 0.8 p.f. If load is high inductive then the p.f. will go down & need to be adjusted through AVR. Not very improved p.f. is attained at high inductive loads.

    It is good that your D.G is running at 0.9-0.95 p.f.
