Project Abstract / Summary : OUR PROJECT IS BASICALLY DEALS WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF HOW TO IMPROVE THE EFFECIENCY OF CONVENTIONAL SOLAR CELL UNDER THE POINT DIVERGENCE METHOD. SINCE CURRENT SOLAR CELL HAS THE MAXIMUM EFFECIENCY OF ABOUT 40% WHICH IS FOUND TO BE LESS ACCORDING TO THE PRESENT GENERATION POINT OF VIEW AND SO OUR TEAM IS MAINLY FOCUSSING TO IMPROVE THE EFFECIENCY BY USING BASIC PRINCIPLE OF OPTICAL LENSES AND VISIBLE LIGHT COMMUNICATION. WE CAN SPLIT UP THIS DISCUSSION INTO THREE PARTS MAINLY
1).INTRODUCTION AND USAGE OF POINT CONVERGENCE METHOD.
2). THE FUNCTION OF VISIBLE LIGHT COMMUNICATION IN THIS PROJECT.

INTRODUCTION AND USAGE OF POINT CONVERGENCE METHOD
BASICALLY THE POINT CONVERGENCE METHOD DEALS WITH THE USAGE OF CONVEX AND CONCAVE LENSES IN RIGHT POSITION MERELY THEY COMBINE TO FORM THE TELESCOPE WHICH CAN OBTAIN THE CAPABILITY OF FOCUSSING THE LIGHT TO THE SOLAR PANEL. IN THIS TECHNIQUE BEFORE FOCUSSING THE LIGHT TO PANEL , IT MUST BE PASSED
THROUGH SOME SET OF CONCAVE LENS TO DIVERGE IN ORDER TO OBTAIN MORE CURRENT AND LESS VOLTAGE AS THE OUTPUT CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SOLAR PANEL. THIS CHARACTERISTICS CAN MAKE MORE FEASIBLE TO THE PUBLIC AND FOR MANY HOME APPLIANCES THAN TO OBTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE AS OUTPUT. NEXT QUESTION COMES TO YOUR MIND IS ? HOW THIS OUTPUT WILL BE OBSERVED IN REAL TIME.

II. THE FUNCTION OF VISIBLE LIGHT COMMUNICATION IN THIS PROJECT
ONE OF THE OUTPUT TO BE OBSERVED IS DISTANCE BETWEEN THE CONCAVE LENS AND SOLAR PANEL AND THE OTHER IS VOLTAGE AND CURRENT FROM THE SOLAR PANEL. THESE OUTPUTS ARE TRANSMITTED BY THE USE OF LIGHT FOLLOWING THE VISIBLE LIGHT COMMUNICATION PRINCIPLE, THE DATA IS RECEIVED FROM THE PANEL WHICH IS INTERFACED WITH THE ARDUINO DEVELOPMENT BOARD. THE MATLAB SOFTWARE IS THE PLATFORM TO BE USED FOR PLOTTING THE GRAPH WHICH IS GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE WITH ARDUINO. THROUGH THE ABOVE PROCESS WE CAN OBSERVE SOME REAL TIME PLOT WITH CURRENT VALUE OF SOLAR PANEL ALONG Y-AXIS AND DISTANCE BETWEEN THE CONCAVE LENS AND PANEL ALONG THE X-AXIS. THROUGH THIS PLOT WE CAN PARTIALLY COME TO THE CONCLUSION ABOUT THE CHARACTERISTICS OF SOLAR PANEL AND THE RELIABILITY OF POINT DIVERGENCE PRINCIPLE. FOLLOWING THIS RESULT THE EFFECIEICY OF THE SOLAR PANEL IS CALCULATED AND COMPARED.
III . THE ADDITIONAL FEATURES
A NEW APPROACH IS YET TO TAKE PLACE IN THIS PROJECT IS THAT HOW TO REDUCE THE DISSIPATION OF LIGHT FROM PANEL. THIS PROBLEM CAN BE APPROACHED BY PLACING THE PRISM WHICH IS SPECIALLY MEANT FOR TOTALLY INTERNAL REFLECTION OF LIGHT. THROUGH THIS PROCEDURE WE CAN PLACE THE PRISM ALONG THE BOUNDARY OF PANEL WHERE THERE IS MORE AMOUNT OF DISSIPATION OF LIGHT WHICH CAN INTURN REDUCE THE LOSS OF LIGHT BY REFLECTING THEM BACK TO THE PANEL ITSELF.


Why did you choose to work on this project topic : 1. THE REASON THAT OUR TEAM HAVE TAKEN THIS PROJECT IS TO PROVIDE AN AWARENESS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE ABOUT MEETING THE SCARCITY OF ELECTRICITY THROUGH SOLAR ENERGY.

2. THE IMPORTANCE OF THE TOPIC IS THE USE OF TWO PRINCIPLES NAMELY THE POINT DIVERGENCE METHOD AND VISIBLE LIGHT COMMUNICATION. THROUGH THIS WE CAN EFFECTIVELY REACH OUR PROJECT OBJECTIVE IN A BETTER WAY.

3. AS THE FUTURE SCOPE MERELY MEANS THAT THIS CONCEPT IN SOLAR CELL CAN BE USED FOR MANY APPLICATION .
