Foxconn-Mozilla To Launch Firefox OS Powered Devices At Taipei On June 3
Foxconn Technology Group, the world's largest Taiwanese multinational electronics contract manufacturing company, who is known to be building devices for the tech giants - Sony and Apple, is now entering an alliance with Mozilla to build Firefox OS powered devices. For declaring the same, these two companies will be having a joint press event in Taipei on June 3. Along with a formal announcement, it is being speculated that the latest Firefox OS products could be showcased at the event. So, joining the line-up of all the big events by Apple, Samsung and Microsoft this june, is now Mozilla too.
Keeping in mind the fact that earlier this year Mozilla <a href="https://www.crazyengineers.com/threads/firefox-os-powered-keon-peak-phones-launched.66979">Firefox OS Powered Keon & Peak Phones Launched</a>, developed by a small Spanish company called Geeksphone, that run the HTML-5 based Firefox OS, we are more than curious to know what will this new Firefox OS running device be? - A smartphone or a tablet? If it is a smartphone, it should be a rather powerful one because those earlier phones sported only basic features and were aimed for developers who wanted to build apps for the Firefox OS. But, it could very well be a tablet because one of the industry insiders has said that the new Firefox OS product is likely to be a tablet. Also, Mozilla recently run the #-Link-Snipped-# contest, the one that involved a chance for HTML 5 developers to built beautiful apps for the Firefox OS app store. So, there's a lot of stuff going on in the background.
It is interesting to note that during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain in February, Mozilla had announced its partnership with telecom operators and manufacturers, such as Deutsche Telekom, Sprint, SingTel, LG and Huawei. And, while we are busy anticipating the outcome of this event, in another news, relevant to the company - it has come to the headlines that now Foxconn is planning to produce and sell its own brand of accessories. According to a new report the company will create various accessories for electronics devices that include Apple smartphones. So, this means we all should be ready to see Foxconn labelled power chords, headphones, smartphones cases and bluetooth based keyboards.
We are eager to shower comments over what Mozilla and Foxconn will have to offer. June is going to be big this year. There's just so much to look forward to. What are your expectations and ideas? Share with us in comments section below.
