Ford Transit To Replace Econoline Range, To Be Tested At Michigan Proving Grounds

Customers can soon expect an upgraded, efficient cargo #-Link-Snipped-#. The automobile giant would soon test the next generation Transit replacing Econoline vehicle. It is touted to have higher fuel efficiency ratings than other models of the same range. The test for durability will take place on its Michigan Proving Grounds where the automobile company is building a specialized track for the task. The track is similar to the one present in Belgium and the machine will be put to rigorous tests once the track is completed in Michigan.

The tests will continue for three months.
Along with strength, technical features of the automobile are also upgraded. The fuel efficiency will be 25% more than other vans of the range. Moreover the company is also planning to use light weight materials and reducing weight of Transit by around 300 pounds. The Transit will naturally be superior to the Econoline range.
'Transit' which is best selling van in Europe so far is expected with three engines. They are the 2.2-liter Duratorq TDCi I-4, 2.4-liter Duratorq TDCi I-4 and 3.2-liter Duratorq TDCi I-5. Speaking of Duratorq engines, it is used in #-Link-Snipped-# also delivering one of the best performances. The ranger was displayed recently in Thailand motor show. It appears that Ford has limited using its EcoBoost engines for sedans and luxury cars while the heavy duty vehicles utilizing the Duratorq alternative. The new generation Transit will be assembled in Kansas City assembly plant.
