Ford India has relaunched its famous Classic sedan at slashed prices. The entire Ford Classic range now could be availed at Rs 4.99 (ex-showroom, Delhi), and the prices go up to Rs 7.59 lakh. The company stated that this new pricing "is reflective of Ford India's thrust on continuously improving the value proposition of its products through operational efficiencies." With these revised prices, Ford aims to boost its presence in the mass segments of India. The company has constantly tried to better its portfolio. The company further stated- "he benefits accrued from these efforts have been used to make the joy of owning a Ford Classic available to even more customers across India. The repositioning will make the Ford Classic an even more compelling offering for customers across India looking to move up to a great sedan." With 1.6 litre Duratec petrol and 1.4 litre TDCi Duratorq diesel engines equipped under the hood, Ford Classic sedan offers greatly to the class, comfort and space departments. Several smart features like programmable keyless entry, Bluetooth audio with speed sensing volume control, front fog lamps, rear defogger, turn indicators on ORVMs, drive away locks, ABS, EBD and driver & front passenger airbags, etc. fluff its appeal. This Ford Classic range now competes with Fiat Linea Classic and other similar sedans in the Indian market such as Honda Amaze and Maruti Dzire.

I agree to the fact that this is a well built car but as stated by Ford India prices were revised due to operational efficiencies. However, fact is that the company has revised the prices by up to 1lakh on all variants primarily to revive the demand of classic sedan which got adversely affected due to EcoSport. Secondly, company is also trying to make way for its upcoming new fiesta which was placed in a wrong price category but efforts are being made to reduce its cost by various means and relaunch it in the market soon. So in short this is a new marketing strategy which is developed by Ford for boosting the sales of classic sedan.
