Project Abstract / Summary : Most fresh produce is transported from the packing facility to the local grocery store in refrigerated vehicles. Highway trailers,air freight or marine containers are the primary means of transportation for perishable food.With all three modes of transport, produce is susceptible to a loss of quality.
Factors affecting produce quality and systems for preserving this quality during transport are presented. Physical and structural characteristics needed for produce transport vehicles and management of produce transport systems are also discussed in this project.We have introduced the Active Transport Tracking Device (ATTD) using the wireless sensor network as part of this solution.Every ATTD device shall be labeled (programmed) with food details, any other details required and attached to food basket (or other container food) that is loaded in vehicle for transfer.Sensors are used for measuring temperature, pressure, overload and adulterant addition.Temperature and humidity will be controlled in the container.In addition alarm would be raised and notified if there is any change in goods estimated travel time. ARM processor is the main controller used in our project.
Why did you choose to work on this project topic : Quality of food is of main concern now a days.This project focuses on maintaining the quality of the food product throughout the journey from the producer till the food reaches the consumer. Fruit ripening is being stimulated by artificial ripening agents which increases the toxicity of the food.It may cause nervous problems. Developing a system which will detect the presence of this artificial ripened products is of very need in today's scenari😨ur project mainly focuses on this issue for providing better quality food for all.
