I had been experiencing this problem for a few days. Couldn't for the life of me figure out what caused it so I did some searching. I found a very workable fix here:

    <a href="https://cyberst0rm.blogspot.com/2008/09/how-to-fix-generic-host-for-win32-and.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">How to fix "Generic Host For Win32" and Svchost.exe error in Windows XP</a>
Are you sure? This action cannot be undone.
