    multiplication of preciding digit and current digit +1
    If so, how to explain the first two 2s?
    It can also be 2x(previous term) +1.(This does not explain the first two 2s either)
    5=2x2+1, 11=2x5+1, next 2x11+1=23 and so on.

    This is also acceptable!
