On dividing a certain number by 342, we get 47 as remainder. If the same number is divided by 18, what will be the remainder ?

    On dividing the same number by 18, the remainder will be 11.

    Explanation:
    On division by 342, 47 is the remainder. This means the number is (342k+47).
    On dividing (342k+47) by 18 the remainder will be only because of 47, as 342k is perfectly divisible by 18.

    Thus 47/18, will give a remainder of 11!
