FileSonic Disables File Sharing Fearing Similar Fate As Megaupload

I don't know what the Government's plan was but the Megaupload arrests seem to have left a scar on FileSonic. No word from FileSonic yet but the site reads that all sharing functionality has been disabled allowing users only to use the service for uploading and retrieving the files personally. Megaupload was taken down for its violation of copyright laws and several of its executives were indicted recently.
To avoid the same fate for its own site, FileSonic has partnered with Vobile Inc. in order to filter copyrighted content. FileSonic's Web site warns users that any attempt at uploading copyrighted materials and illegitimately sharing through its service will be blocked using Vobile's digital fingerprinting technology. Some users on Reddit speculate that the online digital file sharing site has already #-Link-Snipped-# and even accounts.

The Department of Justice indicted Megaupload because it believed that Megaupload executives allegedly paid users whom they specifically knew and uploaded infringing content and publicized those links to users throughout the world. This landed Megaupload into a massive copyright infringement scenario. Apparently, FileSonic had a similar service, as noted by TorrentFreak. FileSonic which stands among among the top 10 file-sharing sites on the Internet provides users with 10GB of storage, 1GB upload file size, and 30 days of storage time on a free account. Unlimited storage is provided for $9 a month with FileSonic paying users when their files were downloaded. This might be one of the reasons FileSonic withdrew its file-sharing support.
