Ferrari’s Superamerica 45 To Mark Long Term Relationship With Mr. Peter Kalikow

Ferrari recently unveiled its latest innovation the Ferrari Superamerica 45. The latest model would now be displayed at Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in Italy this weekend. The car is designed as per the Ferrari 599 and sports excellent features including a swiveling carbon-fiber roof. The car is especially built for American Billionaire Peter Kalikow.

The new Ferrari 45 costs around $87 millions and is “one-and-only” in its own accord. Though 575M Superamerica already features the flip-up-and-back roof concept, the one designed for Mr. Kalikow is completely unique. In case of the main attraction i.e.; the swiveling roof, Superamerica 45 is equipped with a roof for heavy use too while that of SA APERTA was for light loads.

Superamerica appears to be a hybrid version of 2010 599-based SA Aperta roadster models and the prancing horse brand's 2003 575M Superamerica. The color of Kalikow’s Superamerica matches his earlier 1961 Ferrari 400 Superamerica cabriolet. It is also finished in Blu Antille with matching Alloy wheels. The internal features include the Blu Scuro carbon fiber trim and the Cuoio leather trim. We will perhaps need to wait till its display in Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este to find out more. The car is expected to be equipped with 6.0 liter V12 engine as per the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este website.

The Superamerica also sports a chromed front grille also having a burnished aluminum treatment to the A-pillars, wing mirrors and door handles. The rear diffuser, front splitter and the side sills are made from dark blue carbon-fiber. These parts and the car on the whole are designed to meet the best of Aerodynamic requirements. According to Ferrari, these components will help to generate the required aerodynamic down force and to reduce drag. Considering these features, it is not wrong that the company describes this model as a “unique one-off model”.

Mr. Peter Kalikow is a successful real estate developer of New York and former chairman of Metropolitan Transportation Authority. He is also the former owner of news paper “New York Post”. It was 45 years back when Mr. Kalikow became a Ferrari client. The Automobile is hence named Superamerica 45 to celebrate this long relationship.
