Fedora 18 Crawls Out!
After 7 delays, Red Hat has finally released Fedora 18 aka Spherical Cow. Generally Fedora has a six month cycle to release new version, but this one took almost 3 months more because of major rewrite of Fedora's Anaconda, its software installation and update program. The new OS was supposed to be released on November 6th.
The new Anaconda in Fedora 18 has been designed to make installation faster and smoother. It gives you different choices of desktops including, Nemo, Nautilis Fork, Mate etc, but GNOME 3.6 is still the default desktop. The new Fedora 18 has also got secure boot same as Windows 8's Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI). Fedora 18 is first release to include this.

Samaba 4, the latest version of the tool that provide file and print sharing services in heterogeneous OS environments, is also included. Notably, Samba 4 is the first tool to introduce free and open source implementation of Active Directory Protocol. Fedora 18 also has also extended its support to cloud with Eucalyptus, OpenStack's Folsom and oVirt engine 3.1.
