Project Abstract / Summary : FAVORI'D'E - A Travel Guide!!!!
The idea is to design a user-friendly mobile application that can help people who commute to various places using Government buses. The user enters a query in a Mobile App in the form of the current location and the destination point to be reached. The application then looks up the database in the cloud to bring out a list of possible bus routes to reach the place along with the estimated time of arrival of each bus. The time of arrival is calculated using the coordinate positions given by a GPS module that is installed in every bus. The coordinates are sent to the cloud (database), using a GSM module, at regular intervals of time to help in mapping the exact location of the bus. The user can also view the route taken by a specific bus, by requesting for the same, using a maps service. From the list of bus routes displayed, the user can choose a specific bus, confirm the selection and book e-tickets for the same. The tickets will be available to the user based on the current balance in the user’s account in a prepaid system of payment. A further enhancement that can be added in this application is informing the user whether the chosen bus is crowded or not depending on the number of valid tickets booked at a particular instant of time. This App enhances the efficiency of the transport system in the city and also helps the citizens plan their trip in advance.
Why did you choose to work on this project topic : This idea will help the people to plan their trip in advance, thus helping them to save time and make use of the same for other useful purposes. Since it involves the use of a Mobile App, a large number of people will be able to use the product proposed and can reap the benefits of the same.
Project Highlights : It is a new and innovative idea that can help a large number of people on a city wide basis. So, if there is support for the idea and if it is recognized as an award winning project, the implementation of the proposed idea can be done with ease and can be used by all the people in the society.
