Facial Recognition May Come To YouTube, Suggests USPTO Application
Google knows how important is to own patents to survive in the industry. The latest published #-Link-Snipped-# by Google could make you identify 'you' in YouTube because facial recognition may soon become a reality on YouTube. According to the application, Google's developing methods and systems for automated annotation of persons in video content uploaded on YouTube. The technique involves creating face tracks from the video inputs and selecting the key images for each track. Then creating a cluster of face tracks to form face cluster and then creating face models from these face clusters.

This allows Google to attach name to people in videos (a la Flickr & Facebook) even at various angles and different light conditions. We're sure that once Google rolls this out, people will be able to tag others in the videos. We expect this to be more interesting in 2014; the year when #-Link-Snipped-# lands in the markets. The facial recognition technic in videos is going to make Google Glass more amazing because when you accidentally meet your old friend, remembering their names won't be a problem.
