Facebook Messenger's 'Photo Magic' Recognises Friends In a Photo and Shares It With Them
Holidays are that time of the year when Facebook goes crazy with friends sharing photos from all over the place on their timelines as well as privately via the Messenger. In fact, last year on New Year's Eve along, Messenger saw millions of photos being exchanged. The company's latest feature called 'Photo Magic', which was in the test mode over the last month, has been finally made public. Now all Facebook Messenger users can share photos of their friends, to the friends in it quite easily with only a few taps. The 'Photo Magic' feature, which can be turned on/off easily, uses facial recognition techniques to identify the faces of your friends in a photo and automatically creates a group chat window where the photo gets shared.
Here's how it works:
Customizing Conversations:
On both Android and iOS versions of the Messenger app, users get to customize their chat windows by changing background colours, using interesting Holiday emoticons and giving people nicknames that will be seen only inside the scope of the chat window.
The set of new emojis and stickers include - Christmas trees, Santa Claus and Snow flakes too. Catching up with the top movies - movie stickers on Frozen and Star Wars theme have also gone live.
Interestingly, Facebook has also brought back the lovely snow globe effect feature on its chat heads for Android users. For the uninitiated, this feature makes your friends' chat heads appear on winter wonderlands.
With that we come to the end of all the latest updates on Facebook Messenger. So, happy holidays, folks! Let us know what you think about the new 'Photo Magic' feature via comments below.

Here's how it works:
- Go to Facebook Messenger app. Select 'Settings' and choose 'Try It' on the Photo Magic feature.
- When you click a picture with your friends, the Photo Magic feature will send you a reminder on screen, asking you if you want to share it with the friends.
- If you choose send, the photo will be shared with the group of friends who are in the picture. If you hit 'cancel', the photo doesn't get sent.
