Facebook "Listen With" Feature, Now Listen Music With Your Friends

Facebook has launched its much awaited “listen with friends” service which lets you enjoy the music with your friends. Users using same music service can listen to the music synchronously – at the exact same time through real time sharing. Users can also listen in a group while one of them can play DJ.

When you are listening to a song, a music note will appear after your name in the chat bar. When your friend will hover mouse over it, he/she will be given an option to listen with you via “listen with” button. There is a catch: You both must be using the same music service like spotify or Rdio. Currently this facility is available on limited services only, but more are supposed to join soon. If you are listening in a group, the person who was listening to the music first can be your DJ. DJ can’t be changed i.e. if he/she decides to leave, you have to recreate the group. All the listeners of the group must be the member of the music service. If someone is not using that service, he/she will be prompted to install it first. At a time at max 50 people can listen to the music together.

As the service is a part of Facebook chat, users can also chat about it. When you start listening, Facebook puts this as a story in tickr, so your friends can know what are you listening to and they can also join. Users can also control who can see their news feed through app setting of the particular app. Alexandre Roche, product designer at Facebook, said in the #-Link-Snipped-# that the feature will start rolling out over the next few weeks.
