Facebook Buys Gowalla - Location Based Service Provider

Gowalla - a location based service provider has been taken over by social networking giant Facebook. The details of the takeover are unknown yet. CNN money quotes that FB has picked up Gowalla at an undisclosed sum. All Gowalla employees including founder Josh Williams will leave their current headquarters in Austin and move to Facebook's headquarter in Palo Alto, California. The Gowalla team is expected to commence work on Facebook timeline feature. Facebook's timline feature, as disclosed by sources, is about people telling stories about important moments in their lifetime. This makes Facebook's Gowalla buyout a perfect buy. Gowalla's PR has declined to comment on the buyout and Facebook is yet to release official information on this news. It's now quite interesting to follow how Foursquare reacts to the move. The company has already released a comment congratulating Gowalla and Facebook and has said that they will continue to focus on building useful and innovative products.
