Project Abstract / Summary : India is lagging behind in terms of automation and sophistication in irrigation and agriculture. We are notable to cultivate faster and maximize our yields through automation. We therefore thought of applying the field of electronics to our main study area i.e. irrigation. Efficient irrigation is the process of developing a technique which supplies precise amount of water and nutrients directly to the root zone of the plant, offering adequate irrigation and sufficient quantity of water. It discourages the growth of weed sand helps to prevent from fungal diseases which often grow in moist environment.
Since today world water resources are diminishing at a higher rate, therefore “Drip Irrigation System” has become popular. This saves water and delivers water using mainlines, sub-mains and lateral lines with emission points along their lengths. Each dripper/emitter, orifice supplies a precisely controlled uniform application of water, nutrient sand other substances required by the plants in proper amount. Thus, this system ensures that plants never suffer from water stress, enhancing quality and achieves optimum growth and high yields. This report proposes the use of automized system for efficient use of water in Agriculture.
The proposed system deals with both automatic and manual parts. Though automation of drip irrigation system is not a new concept, the full scale field testing and experimentation on actual crops is essential to establish the application efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Why did you choose to work on this project topic : As the whole world is facing the big problem of water crisis so it is need of today's era to develop such a automated irrigation system which will save maximum water. And as agriculture is the back bone of our country so we must use minimum water for crops to get maximum yield. In this system the proper amount of water is supplied to root zone and irrigation turns ON/OFF when water demand to root zone is required or fulfilled respectively. so to save water and obtain a good yield we are using automated drip irrigation system.
1.Achievement of good crop yield in water scarcity regions for sustainable agriculture which is the backbone of Indian economy.
2.Suitable for short duration vegetable crops and horticulture from which good monetary results can be harvested.
Future Scope:
The GSM or wireless sensor network can be implemented in the farm field to transfer the various parameters to the central control unit for better management and controlling.
Project Category : Civil / Structural
