Project Abstract / Summary : Light weight concrete (LWC) is a new technology developed in recent years. It is made up of cement – sand slurry with certain percentage of expanding agent. LWC has wide range of application in construction of tall structures. The weight of LWC is comparatively lower than that of ordinary concrete. Hence self-weight of concrete is reduced that resulted in reduced dead load of entire structure.

In this project, we are tried to replace the cement content by lime and remaining components such as sand, foaming agent and etc.as same. The properties of lime concrete (LWC) such as density, compressive strength, water absorption value and etc. are to be compared with the properties of ordinary LWC.

Why did you choose to work on this project topic : Lime, that is used since our ancient time. But now we us Cement which is mainly based on slica. Using lime has many advantages in construction, Lime keeps room hot, when the outer environment being cold and vis versa. that reduce the energy consumption in several ways
