Engineering Grad Redefines Racing Car. Uses Maruti 800 Engine.

Success hails the person who dares to think differently. This quote applies to the young and talented Patna youth Aum Ravi, who has recently tasted success in the world of motor sports. He attributes his success to the new emerging state Bihar. A mechanical engineer, Ravi recently developed his own technology "Formula 800" to formulate a new racing car with the help of his team called "Resonance Racing". On a motor race competition held in Chennai on July 3 under the flag of Supra SAE 2011, his racing car driven by Resonance Racing was ranked first and won the national championship trophy along with a prize money of Rs 4 lakhs. Ravi said, "Our team had been longing for the national championship trophy the day we entered the motor sport world competitions about three years ago. It is a great relief that our labour finally bore fruit bringing success and glory to Bihar."

Brooding over his new technology and innovative ideas to develop his own sports car, Ravi stated that he had successfully played the role as the head in charge of fabrication and senior race engineer. "During the initial days of designing and fabrication, our team members relentlessly worked hard to get sponsors for the race. However, we had the experience of all terrain vehicle race prior to participation in the Chennai competition," he said. As a senior race engineer,  his task was to handle pit stops during the race. Luckily, he handled it within the specified time limit which helped in winning the competition. His captain Aditya Dandwate and team members Prashant and Harsimran, who come from Jamshedpur and Dhanbad respectively, exercised an outstanding job in the race.

Ravi was very happy with the results, "It was our dream to win the national championship for which we have been thriving for three years. Our first achievement was in the year 2009 and 2010 when we won the race organized by BAJA at Indore and we were placed all over third using a all terrain vehicle which can move on sandy and muddy surfaces." Formula 800 got to be the best excelvation and also for hill climbing of 45 degrees. "We used Maruti 800 engine which is a big risk as playing with the car's engine can complicate things. The built up of the car should be aerodynamically friendly and the centre of gravity should be beneath the driver. We worked on the steering as well. We designed it which had 240 degree left lock and right lock and it just takes a turn in one move of the steer."

Ravi, who graduated from Pune, was an automobile enthusiast since his childhood. His proud father Suman Kumar Deva , a teacher at B S College, Danapur, said, "He used to make toy models during his school days at St Karen's School, Patna." Reacting to his outstanding success, St Karen's school principal L Gaulstaun said Ravi had the enthusiasm to do anything extraordinary during his school days. He had innovative ideas and always wanted to do something special and creative, he said. Ravi had earlier took part in BAJA 2009 and 2010 race competitions at Indore. He is presently tied in with Volkswagen Motorsports and is one of the founders of a Pune-based organic food firm.
