    The Superprobe project was designed to see how much could be done with a PIC chip and just a few parts. The image down shows the capacitance measuring mode.

    This device is designed around a PIC16F870, a 4 digit LED display module and very little else.

    First confirm what Praveen search for you is the project you want to make. (have you tried to find some information about same?)

    now second thing as they have designed with PIC, you can do. Or do some schematic analysis and you'll find other option of PIC too as there are so many Companies who are developing microcontrollers.
