Elementary OS 0.3 Freya (Formerly known as Isis) is an Ubuntu based distribution (sadly! - It should be arch based). So, what makes eOS better than Ubuntu ? First of all, Elementary OS Gnome 3.14 base while Ubuntu uses Gnome 3.12, Light-weight, Newbie friendly, Gnome apps in eOS just looks awesome!, Continuous development - yeah! eOS devs don't sleep, trust me on that. And above all Community is awesome, you can indulge in discussions in eOS community on G+.

PS : This is Beta build, you'll find tonnes of glitches.

I prefer ArchLinux based, as I prefer rolling distributions & bleeding edge distros. Also, I use Arch in my day to day use.
By the way, I said Arch over Ubuntu based, not Debian. Yep, Ubuntu is based on Debian, but again not totally & this again is one another debate 😀
