Does GATE coaching help in technical round of campus placements?

Hello everyone. I am studying B tech 3rd year Computer Science from Hyderabad. And planning for campus placements where technical and aptitude are present.

I am confident in aptitude but coming to technical round I am worrying regarding the questions of interviewers. so I would like to ask you that whether gate coaching is helpful to crack technical round? and I don't want to do mtech or join any govt. sector but only IT companies with gate coaching.

One more question: does technical skills are that important? as some people are saying many IT companies look for only soft skills. please reply thanx in advance

Gate coaching can be a little helpful, Soft skills are great and their benefit depends on the company you are appearing for (ie what kind of work it has and for what position are they hiring). For a developer role, Technical skills are as important as soft skills.
Also technical skills are quite specific, for example a company working entirely on .NET will require aspirants to have .NET skills.
So thing is, no need to worry, just prepare well, know about company, be confident & good luck 😀

For a computer science student there are basically few topics which almost all IT companies will definitely ask questions.
    1. OOPS
    2. Data structures & algorithms
    3. DBMS
    4. OS
Now, some companies, depending on their specialisation may ask questions on other topics such as Software Engineering and Microprocessors. And some subjects maybe given higher priority over the others.

GATE coaching will be helpful for you in preparing for technical interviews provided you understand the concept thoroughly. Companies not only test your knowledge but also your ability to implement that knowledge.

Try to do an internship this summer it will help you gain some experience. There are many startups in Hyderabad which can help you.

GATE coaching will definitely be useful in cracking the technical round of interviews of campus placements.

In the technical round, the interviewers typically like to focus on the engineering subjects that candidate has studied. If GATE coaching helps brush up the knowledge of engineering topics, it'll definitely help.

Technical skills are *very* important; rather more important than soft-skills. You need to be excellent at both. Think from the interviewer's perspective - would anyone really want to hire a candidate for technical position on the basis of their reading, writing and speaking skills?

    No!

Most interviewers are going to be looking at a complete package. GATE coaching will definitely help with technical interviews. But you will still have to prepare separately for the HR rounds. You will also need to prepare for Group Discussions, if the company decides on adding one more elimination round.
