Digital Face Transplant To Change Hollywood's Low Budget Films

#-Link-Snipped-# gives you much power of editing photos. You might have enjoyed it heartily but it is only limited to 2D art. Harvard University researchers have successfully dealt with 3D aspect. The technology developed at Harvard can easily aid you in transplanting face itself in a video. The algorithm so developed will help the low budget films to get special effects as that of any super hero film made in Hollywood.

It is seen that when someone is playing a twin role, a very high quality of set up is required and a single camera is insufficient at that time. The 3D algorithm also known as a face transplant algorithm can digitally mimic a face over other so accurately that it is very hard to spot the differences in two faces. The technique which requires a simple camera and a minimum supporting lighting set up was first brought forth by Kevin Dale, a computer scientist at Harvard University.

#-Link-Snipped-# of the donors face and tries to match it with the other face on which we are to transplant it. However it might so happen that you cannot perfectly match the two faces so the algorithm tries with many more frames of the donors face to create a realistic looking imagery. The process takes only 20 minutes long to create 10 seconds of video. However it is reasonable as it saves a lot of costly make-up, set-up and even sometimes a little surgery.

Another positive aspect of the algorithm is that you can also use it to make a hybrid video. It is the same that police makes a sketch of suspected criminal by changing facial attributes. The technician can use the smile of an actor from one scene, eye expression from another frame and so on to make a separate video. This makes it easier to achieve the correct expression.

The idea itself is so interesting and more refinement can be brought about in future. The 3D Face Transplant #-Link-Snipped-# by Harvard researchers will be used in film industry for sure but might be used in uploading doctored videos on web. It is true that along with technology, a mechanism to tackle its ill-effects should also come into picture!
