DIGITAL AUDIO WATERMARKING FOR ANALOG TRANSMISSION LINKS
Project Abstract / Summary : Watermarking is a form of information hiding which embeds information into a carrier signal without perceptibly distorting the signal. In an age of digital information and instant, global communication, the authenticity of information is playing an increasingly important role in the exchange of data.
Many effective watermarking algorithms have been proposed and implemented for digital images and digital video, however, few algorithms have been proposed for audio watermarking. This is due to the fact that, the human audio system is far more complex and sensitive than the human visual system.
In this project, I had implemented a robust digital audio watermarking algorithm based on the discrete wavelet transform, which should be suitable for the DA and AD conversion. This project is based mainly based on the proposed Shijun Xiang audio Watermarking method for DA/AD conversion.
While digital audio watermarking techniques have existed for some time, however most research only concern copyright protection mechanisms. An aim on open information integration is hardly ever a focus of development goals. This project is hence focused on open information integration.
Especially digital/analog conversion processes tend to lose all sorts of metadata, for them not being translated into acoustic signal. This is where this project may come to aid. So it could be utilized to add additional information to radio and TV broadcasts.
This project is implemented using MATLAB to check the robustness and feasibility of the audio watermarking algorithm.
