Its been on my mind since ages. How about developing a comprehensive newbie guide? I'd like to know if anyone wants to volunteer for this? If we get more response for this, we might setup a team that works on developing a newbie guide. 😀

Nice idea indeed. I was totally lost when I joined. I think it is not a one person job. I'll need someone to work with me.

Thanks jerry & crazyboy ! 😀 It's not a very difficult task. How about having different sections for different functions on CrazyEngineers forum?

For example,
1. General Rules on CE forums.
2. About posting & replying to threads, starting new threads.
3. About the Calendar feature
4. Forum specific FAQ etc.

Let me know if you have more (better) ideas 😀

Welcome

Welcome to the CrazyEngineers forum! CrazyEngineers (abbreviated as ‘CE’) provides a place to engineers from all over the world a common place for discussions, knowledge sharing & yes, having fun! 😁

Registration

We are glad that you have chosen to be a part of our community. If you have not registered yet, click Register & fill out a simple form. Since the username cannot be changed, think of some innovative username. Please note that only registered users can post on the forums.

Let us spend some time reading the rest of this newbie guide before embarking on a life long journey along with other CEans.

Forum Trotting

Now that you have joined, its time to update your profile.

To do this-
1. Login & click on ‘User CP’ (that is User Control Panel) link on the navigation bar on the top.
2. Once you are in the User CP, browser through various sections of your CP such as ‘Edit Signature’, ‘Edit Profile’, ‘Edit Options’. Update relevant fields. Do not forget to update your birthday field, interests & location. 😀
3. Done! 😀

Okay! Everything Done! What Now?

1. Its time to introduce yourself! Let others know about yourself. Don't miss this opportunity to shout about your achievements. Blow your own trumpet, we don't mind!
2. Please do not post your introductions as vague as "I'm new to the forum. Hope to find new friends here". Take out some time, and write a nice introduction!
3. Browse through different sections and explore the world of crazy engineers!

Buttons in Brief!

You will be clicking on following buttons regularly- 😁
1. 'New Thread': You can start a new discussion thread in any section of the forum. Please be high on common sense while using this button. There is no point in starting a thread for "Hello Everyone!". Such threads will be locked.

2. 'Post Reply': Click on this button if you want to reply to a thread. Your reply will appear at the end of the thread.

3. 'Quote': When you want to quote text from any post, click on this button. The quoted text will appear in a box in your post. Now, don't quote just for the sake of making your post look big.

4. 'CrazyEngineers Logo' (active on forum only): It’s not a button, but clicking on it will take you to the forum homepage.

CE Common Sense

CCS#1. Before starting a new thread, have a look at existing threads. You can use the search facility. Please use a title (subject) that describes your thread appropriately. Avoid using special characters to draw attention.

CCS#2. Be nice to everyone. Refrain from making sarcastic comments, posts. Also avoid using anything objectionable in your signature & avatar. Such signatures/avatars will be deleted immediately.

CCS#3. Go Easy on CAPS 😁. It serves no purpose. The language of the forums is 'English'. Avoid using other languages to make posts or replies.

CCS#4. A strict NO for illegal activities, harassment of any kind.

CCS#5. Use PM (Private Messaging) facility if and only if necessary. No spamming on PMs. Any complaints should be reported to admin [at] crazyengineers [dot ] com

CCS#6. Advertising of any kind, is a sure shot way of getting banned.

CCS#7. Use the font color/size which makes your post readable.

CCS#8. Try to avoid ctrl+c & ctrl+v. If you do, please mention the source from where you copied the contents.

CCS#9. Please note that this is *our* forum. Let us keep it clean & make it more useful.

CCS#10. Violation of above rules may lead to temporary/permanent banning from CE forums.

CCS#11. Do not enter invalid/unused email address while registering. We won't flood your mailbox with unwanted mails. Only important announcements will be delivered to your mailbox.
