Detect Ghosts With These Gadgets

No matter how much 'scientific' we engineers are, there will always be few among us who believe in Ghosts. However science & engineering can come to your rescue to strength or burst your belief in Ghosts. In today's post, let's take a look at the common gadgets and electronic devices used by Ghost Hunters to detect paranormal activities. These devices make the use of beliefs most ghost-believers have. These include - Ghosts exist in the form of electro-magnetic fields and their presence results abnormal levels of electromagnetism in the area. Second one is that ghosts gather energy from surrounding objects and their presence would result in localized temperature drops aka 'Cold Areas'. Third one is that ghosts try to communicate with us via their own audio frequency range, which normal human ear cannot detect. Fourth is that ghost activity can be detected. Fifth one is about their visibility through infra-red cameras.  Take a look at how you can detect ghosts if you wish to with following gadgets -

The EMF Meter

The EMF Meter is probably the most used device by ghost hunters. It detects energy in the surrounding area and reports sudden rise and drops in the electromagnetic fields. Researchers have believed that reported Ghost sightings are a result of such fields interacting with human brain and creating illusions. The device comes handy in detecting energy levels in area where you'd not find other electric equipments, which may suggest that there's a possibility of detecting ghosts.

Digital, High Sensitivity Thermometer

A digital thermometer with high sensitivity and precision can detect changes in temperature at various locations within your room or office. The device is excellent in detecting localized drop in temperature, which could mean that there something abnormal in that area.  You know what I mean.

There are new thermometers that can detect temperature of a distant point just by pointing the thermometer at it. It uses infrared beams to accurately measure the temperature.

Digital Audio Recorder

If the ghost exist, there's a good chance to believe that they might want to communicate with the humans. I remember watching a Ghost Hunter series episode on Discovery Channel in which the researching team asked questions to ghosts and keep their digital recorders on. Upon playing back those tapes and amplifying the output, the researchers did notice few noises and responses. However, nothing could be concluded via that experiment. It's called the Electric Voice Phenomenon. The modern digital audio recorders can pick up sounds at around 15 MHz which is way below the human ear threshold frequency.

The Ghost Box

Ghost Box takes the DAR one step ahead. It scans for the local radio frequencies and identifies static and sequential noise which may contain any message. However, this is not a very reliable device. There is a high chance that it will pick up the frequencies of a distant radio station. However, it can be used along with the DAR to capture responses to very specific questions asked.

Ovilus & iOvilus iPhone App

The Ovilus combines the best of the above mentioned devices and expects the ghost to be smart enough to know how this device can help in detecting it. Ovilus takes temperature & EMF readings, then combines these readings to form a number that forms a word and then reads it aloud. The Ghost, aware of device's presence and how it functions is then expected to make changes to the temperature and EMF can make Ovilus speak the word it wants to speak. There's an iPhone App available as well, called #-Link-Snipped-#. Use it at your own risk. However if you do hear few sounds from it, do not forget to share them with us.

Motion Detector & Infra-Red Cameras

The motion detectors create an invisible barriers which upon intrusion can set off an alarm. This in combination with Infra-Red camera can actually take quick photos of the monitored space to capture the Ghost on film. I'm yet to hear any success stories with it yet.

That said, there is no concrete proof that Ghosts exist. The gadgets mentioned above have been in use for long time but haven't been able to prove the existence of paranormal beings beyond doubt. If your crazy engineering has led you to develop newer devices to catch Ghosts and have any success/failure stories to share, we're all ears.
