Dell Unveils Two Robust Latitude Series Laptops In India Priced At Rs. 2 Lakh

American multinational company Dell Inc. launched two laptops in India on Wednesday, the Dell Latitude (DL) 12 and 14. The speciality and the uniqueness of these is that they are extremely rugged. They can withstand heavy rains and over 60kg of weight on them. Dell claims that they are the first sturdy laptops ever to be launched in India. They have a really strong backbone thanks to the magnesium alloy and shock-absorbing ultra-polymer material used to make them.

Dell India’s director and GM Mr Belgundi on the launch said that the price for DL 12 starts from Rs 2.39 lakh and that of Dell Latitude 14 from Rs 2.29 lakh. The actual prices may vary with the configuration because these laptops can work from any Intel processor from I3 to I7. Additionally, according to Dell, DL 12 is the first device of its type to have a flip-hinge display. The end result is a quick switch from notebook to tablet. DL 14 isn’t convertible but it matches DL 12 in every other way. Both the laptops can handle extreme temperatures from -29 degree Celsius to 63 degree Celsius with the help of its fourth-generation QuadCool Thermal management.

Each laptop can drop from a height of 6 feet without any damage whatsoever. These laptop have 16 GB of RAM and have solid state drives of various types starting from 128 GB up to 512 GB. DL 12 has a 12-inch screen display and weighs 2.72 kgs while DL 14 has 14-inch screen display and weighs 3.54 kgs. According to the official Dell website, DL 12 and DL 14 can last up to 8.5 and 14 hours respectively with a single charge.


The old-fashioned keyboard of both are backlit and sealed to guard against spills and dust. As far as connectivity is concerned, both the laptops have 802.11 ac Wi-Fi and options like 4G broadband and GPS facility. Dell is yet to release information about availability but it is evident that Dell is looking at huge organizations in infrastructure, defense etc. as the potential customers for these products.
