Data Leakage Detection In Cloud Computing

Project Abstract / Summary : Cloud computing is the major technology in today’s ICT(Information and Communications Technology).It is used by almost every online user directly or indirectly and hence data security is an important issue in cloud computing. Data security is a challenging work due to the high volume databases and large propositions of data transferring. A serious concern of information leakage is expressedby the organizations using cloud computing. We propose an algorithm that detects thedata leakage automatically. This paper also emphasis on identifying the fraudulentsources and tracking their activities is necessary for data leakage prevention. OpenStack is the middleware taken under consideration to support data leakage detection system and for better performance of cloud environment. An effort is made to provide the brief idea of the simulation tools. To model different mechanisms in cloud environment simulation is necessary as, it is difficult for the users to reach the real cloud. There are various cloud simulators available for performance analysis of the cloud environment. This paper also emphases on CloudSim that supports simulation and allows one to create one or more VM’s (virtual machines) on data centers.

Why did you choose to work on this project topic : Now-a-days data is stored and exchanged over cloud. Tracing the tremendous use of these services, the need to secure them comes into picture. A person shopping online, places an order on the websites main server. In turn , the details of delivery of goods is sent to the local distributor’s server. During this if there is an intruder who tries to change the address of the supposed delivery, then this kind of data leakage results in economic loss of the person placing the order. This kind of data leakage may turn up to a large scale when confidential services like banking transactions,nuclear are considered. To avoid this loss, there has to be some system for data leakage detection .
This is the main motivation of our project.

Project Highlights : Today is the world of digitilization.This has the changed the way we live,play,travel or earn.The use of cloud technology is bound to increase in many areas.However it also generates the need to secure the data as it could be misused by various means.This project specifically deals with data leakage detection using some advanced algorithms efficiently.As the future scope it also deals with the prevention of data leakage.
