CWG 2010 to create 24.7 lakh jobs in India ..

New Delhi, Oct 5: The organising committee of Commonwealth Games 2010 hoped that the revenue of the Delhi games would create an "enormous employement opportunity of close to 24.7 lakh jobs".

CWG has been expected to result in an overall economic impact of $4,940 million on India's GDP during a period of four years ending 2012.

The organising committee assured, "The social and environmental impact of the Games will be highly laudable as they are bound to encourage improved standards of education to children."

Its statement also added that the impact of CWG would, "boost sports activities, create a better quality of life and experience for citizens, increase international recognition and create environmental consciousness among the community."

After watching the successful grand CWG opening ceremony and as India started the games with winning of gold, silver and bronze medals, it seemed like India really can hope a great social and economic impact from CWG 2010.
