Cisco's TelePresence System - Consult Doctors Using Online Videos
Over 200 pharmacies in Switzerland are getting equipped with TelePresence, a Ciscoâs video communication system. Using this technology, patients can have a quick video consultation with a physician and get a better knowledge about healthy treatment. Christian Martin, General Manager of Cisco Switzerland said we are pleased to be able to offer this unique, pioneering Health Presence project based on Ciscoâs TelePresence system. See below how exactly the system performs.

Cisco TelePresence Video Consultation
This virtual consultation technology enables computers to connect to the pharmacy consultation rooms at Medgate, Switzerlandâs Telemedicine centre. Each side is equipped with EX90, a computer system having a microphone, a Full HD webcam and a 24 inch Full HD display. For a patient the experience is like having a true life consultation with simple touch-screen operations that wonât annoy them. In addition, the TelePresence system can be upgraded by adding several diagnostic devices that the physicians can make use of remotely, devices to measure patientâs heart rate, blood pressure or temperature. The system supports multiple languages and an easy to use user interface.
Christian explained that Ciscoâs TelePresence system establishes connection through a highly secured data transmission link and each time creates a secured session for patients. Moreover to protect patientsâ privacy, separate consultation rooms are availed. Actually, the project was first initiated by pharmaSuisse, Association of Pharmacists Switzerland, in association with Helsana, insurer of accidents. This combined effort between the pharmacists and physicians played a vital role in promoting the efficiency and quality of healthcare delivery, says Dominique Jordan, President of pharmaSuisse.
