Chinese telecom companies Huawei, ZTE may open offices in India

China based leading global telecom solutions provider, Huawei corporation and the company that supplies EVDO modems to BSNL subscribers are planning to open offices in India. The companies are facing security hurdles in setting up manufacturing plants in India.

#-Link-Snipped-#ZTE has said that the Indian operators have told the company that it had failed to meet the government's security tests necessary for getting clearance to supply equipment in the Indian market. ZTE's India Chaiman, Mr. D. K. Ghosh has said that the company has not received any official word from the Indian Government; however, the operators have informed them that few companies including ZTE has not met government's security tests.

Huawei has said that the company is open to visits from government officials or agencies and they met the security tests required by the Indian Government. The company has recently opened an R&D center in Ottawa.

Do you think opening manufacturing plants in India is a good move for both these companies?
