China is fast gaining pace in the race of establishing its own Satellite Navigation System and recently saw its SatNav system getting operational. This development by Beijing is seen as a step for reducing its dependence on foreign navigation systems. Recently, Europe also expressed its desire to have its own SatNav system in place, in case the American GPS fails.

With the present development, China plans to have a total of 35 satellites monitoring earth by 2020. In this attempt, the Asian country has already stationed 10 satellites in their orbits. In next two years, it also plans to add another six to its existing fleet. The satellites will mainly be used by Military but even civilians would be able to benefit from it.

Of course the military will be able to access more accurate data.

Apart from accuracy, the system is also designed with advanced technology for prevention from jamming of networks and other #-Link-Snipped-#. China is not the only country serious about such threats and strategic policies. Recent attempts by European Union and Russia are also remarkable. It is only sometime ago that there were reports of #-Link-Snipped-#. The one developed by China is compatible with navigation systems available globally. With the launch of its tenth satellite, the Asian giant has reduced the threat of shutting off of the GPS by US substantially.
