    Jayakumar-J asked in a PM:
sir what is the chemical reaction take place during the burning of air fuel mixture an the IC engine.
Since this may be of general interest I am posting my reply here:
Normally all that should happen is that the hydrocarbon should burn with the Oxygen in air and water and carbon dioxide alone should be produced. However, extremely short times, high pressures, high temperatures and presence of other additives lead to various emissions, mostly harmful.

Thank you sir for your valuable reply sir .
    sir,
Sometime why the exhaust gases are have black color ?

The black colour is from very fine soot particles, which are produced during incomplete combustion of carbonaceous fuels. These nano sized particles can do a lot of damage to lung tissues.

what are the modifications are made in vehicle for pollution control ?
Nowadays all modern vehicles are use catalytic converters to reduce the emission of nitrous oxides to the atmosphere.

    sir,
its possible to produce thermal energy by using the waste engine cooling oil with water

I have to join with Chandra Babu, and declare total mystification.

If you want to know if the oil used for engine cooling but contaminated with water can be used to generate heat, probably it can be burnt in an external combustion process and generate heat.

    sir ,
what is mean by exhaust gas analysis?,what is the use of exhaust gas analysis?
Exhaust Gas Analysis is used to measure the amount of exhaust gas components present in a stream of exhaust gas. Analyzers test five gases - hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, oxygen and oxides of nitrogen.
    It is used for:
    - Troubleshooting fuel and ignition systems
    - Locating vacuum leaks or EGR malfunctions
    - Diagnosing mechanical problems such as worn valves and guides
    - Checking air/fuel mixture

    sir,
what is the characteristics of exhaust gas ?.
has high velocity and temperature and a lot of NOx gasses in it if a catalytic converter is not used.
