Do you have any specific thing in mind?DASARI PAVAN KUMARHai mam am PAVAN KUMAR DASARI now i studying civil engineering final still i dont what to do after complition of B.Tech can u guide me or suggestioned me mam
Just do it!
Need more clarity about your question. Perhaps learning the tools and technologies relevant to your work might help. Also, if you are studying with an aim to get promotion or increment; it'd be advisable to concentrate only on the tools / software that you actually use in your projects.ajeetkumar03I am B.TECH in civil engineering.I am working in NTPC for 5 years in Field Quality Assurance Department which mainly deals with the testing part of all types of works in CIVIL (sometimes MECHANICAL TOO) works. What should i study given my work profile
Then there are so many other things which you can learn. If you can master Excel - you can perform analysis with data easily. You might want to learn to use project management software et al.
- Microsoft Office
- AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Autodesk
- StaddPro Vi8
- Primavera (Popular project management software)

If you are interested in Structural Engineering, better go in for a master degree in engineering. Learning only softwares will help you but wont develop your analytical and design knowledge.
There are so many courses. But your choice will totally depend upon what you wish to achieve through the course.prince jhi mam, after compeleting b.e civil engineering..is there any one year course to study?
I want to do MCA. Actually i completed BCA in 2011.

I am now in 3rd year studyng n anna university tamilnadu, will doing internships helps me to get jobs easilly ?? If yes plz tell some of the companies which provides internships ..
please answer me in detail ...waiting for u...
What subjects should I study?
However, in my opinion one should not take a job that does not interest one. Salay is not all. Job satisfaction is very important. One can take a job as a stopgap option and to avoid unexplained gaps in the resume.
Sreejit, internships are useful. You must look to young companies that are growing, extending operations and adding facilities for openings. This is not my area of activity. If I come across something possible I shall revert.Sreejith jkwill doing internships helps me to get jobs easilly ??

It's not clear what the problem is. I think once you complete your engineering studies, you should start looking for a job in your domain. Could you please be more clear about the issue you are facing or what decision you wish to make?Subahan01I decided to pursue my career from #Civil Engineering feild only, My problem is tht i don't have any idea abt this after btech,
There is plenty to do even in basic Civil Engineering.
Bridges, water management (small dams across rivulets to help store water, rain water harvesting, and such), bridges , elevated roads, disaster relief shelters that can be assembled at site, quake-proof structures ...
The list is limited only by your imagination. Concentrate on acquiring the basic kills now.
And dare to dream of what you would achieve later, when the time comes.
I choose this civil..bcz of my parents wish and i also have Dream of sketching my home by me....and now I'm trying to get a government jobs...and complete the IAS or KAS....A.V.RamaniWhy did you choose that branch? Presumably by choice. You must have had some idea of what you want to do later.

If you are finding it difficult to search a good job in your domain of studies, you can pick up an internship in a small firm. Demonstrate your ability and convert it into a full time opportunity.Or else, you can opt for government exams such as UPSC, IES, SSC, etc, if that interests you.
Starting up your own business which requires very low starting capital such as a brokerage business can also be a viable option for you.
I would recommend, as you are in a very early stage of your career, you should choose the right path by trial and error method. Because its only if you try, you will find your passion.

I am a civil engineer and in a confusion what to do
Which one do you suggest
1. 1 year internship or couple of interns in a reputed company's and then going for higher studies or job.
2. gate then m tech then job
after BE civil there are so many options to get good job in private and gov. sector. for the students who are looking for best course after civil engineering which can helps them to get job in reputed company. I would like to suggest them to do construction management course. which the best career choice for the civil engineers.
You have so many option after or B.E. civil engineering . You can apply job in construction companies and you can also prepare for Govt Exams in this field.
I am a btech civil site engineer having 5 years of experience in site engineer field but now I m planning to change my field and I m thinking about QA and QS I m confusing about wich field is better for instant job. Can you please advise me regarding this
@Mohd Salman From what I have heard from a few civil engineer friends, QA & QS jobs require some expertise and there are special courses to learn those skills.
I am sure you have heard about RICS i.e. Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, that college offers management course quantity surveyor (QS), if interested then please do search about it.
Since you have mentioned that you are a B.Tech already with 5+ years of experience, then you can take up some design work also which does not require a very exhaustive analysis. You will find many advertisements from middle east organizations for recruitment as quantity surveyors.
If you are willing to go for education before making the switch, there is an all famous institute called NICMAR in Pune which is providing short and long term courses for quantity surveying along with campus placements.
The industry is ripe and there is no efficiency or skills in employees for QS to meet the demand. So, yes, there is a huge gap to fill for people who have the right skills.
