Career in programming & animation

I am in my 1st year BE under Computer Science stream.
I am crazy about programming and animation. I know that I am good at it to some extent.
When I think about my career, I get too confused. I am not able to judge myself. I believe in my talents. But when they are not encouraged, I feel lost.
I get drenched in thoughts like "Are my talents sufficient to get into my dream career?"๐Ÿ˜•
May be because I don't have proper guidance.๐Ÿ˜”
Lot of questions cross my mind.

Moving the post to a new thread ๐Ÿ˜€

I believe it's too early to be worried about career. You have ample time to work on the options and I'm sure the industry situation will be different by the time you graduate. However, it's very good that you know what you are passionate about.

Programming & Animation can be blended into a career in Game Designing & Animator job. Modern games designing companies require engineers good knowledge of programming & animation and the demand is more than supply. You can surely take up a job as a game developer.

    Thanks Big K.
But I am not much interested in Game designing. I like 2D animation. I just know a bit of Photoshop and Flash. I will use it to make my software(which I will design in future) look good ๐Ÿ˜. I have a thirst to learn more. But because of the tight college schedule, I find it difficult to go further.

Hey even I am into the same problem. I have done my computer science engineering which has no link with the animation. But i like the idea of programming and animation blended together. I had always thought of just animation in cartoons and movies, never liked the idea of game developing. But now i think its worth a try.
I want to know that since all the animation courses are 3yrs and are Bsc in animation or a dimploma, would it be a good option to do a bsc after all time spent in engg?
even c and c++ is used in game developement but animation as such needs other tools which can only be got by these cousres??like rendering and etc stuff?
