Can I pursue PhD Physics after B.Tech Civil Engineering?

Switching to physics major from civil engineering major.

    The answer is both yes and no. IITs offer PHD programs without needing a post-graduation degree.You will need a valid GATE score. B.E/B.Tech with valid GATE score or CSIR/UGC NET/NBHM or equivalent and minimum CGPA of 8.0 for non CFTI students. For CFTI students GATE is not required but minimum CGPA of 8. 

    However it is always better to get a PG degree before you opt for PHD.

    One more option is to join IISc as a research scholar and then upgrade to PHD program.
