Broadband Speed Doubled By Virgin Media In UK For Free!
Virgin Media takes a giant leap in an era where you can't go a day without watching a video or downloading stuff for your PCs, smartphones or tablets. Starting from February, Virgin will double the broadband speed of their customers. This means Virgin users signed up for 10 Mbps plan will be upgraded to 20 Mbps and those with 20 Mbps and 30 Mbps plans will both be boosted to 60Mbps, making the average speed to be 16.46Mbps. What's more, the top  speed increase is going to be from 100 Mbps to 120 Mbps. There will also be doubling of the bandwidth usage limits to accommodate the superfast broadband upgrade. This, they believe is just a trailer, since their full rollout is scheduled to come out by mid-2013. All in all, it's time for the users to rejoice because this upgrades are coming absolutely free.

This move from Virgin will push it's service to the top of the market and build UK's infrastructure towards a smarter, in a way tech-savvy economy. BT Group, a leading supplier of telephony services, is also working towards making fibre broadband available to all the major areas in UK by the end of 2015. And now, speaking of users who still use old modems, there is more good news. They will receive necessary new equipment free of charge. Looks like UK does not want to leave any stone unturned.
Ookla, a broadband speed monitoring company, says that UK ranks 35th on global scale when it comes to highest broadband consumer download speeds. Gathering data based on millions of speed tests, when compared to today's standards, the company determines that with these speed upgrades, UK will scale up the ladder and be 19th-fastest globally.
