Breathing Belnt Nose Technique for Drag Reduction
Project Abstract / Summary : In supersonic and hypersonic flows,wave drag,skin friction drag and base drag are the three main components of the total drag force.A new concept termed Breathing Blunt Nose was used to reduce the drag and heat dissipation at hypersonic flow regimes was found to be effective.In this technique,high pressure flow ahead of the body was sent into the low pressure zone behind the body.This leads to the decrease in delta P and pressure drag is decreased.
Why did you choose to work on this project topic : Drag is the major obstacle in aeroplane designing.Less drag leads to increase in aerodynamic efficiency of the body.Less drag also leads to low thrust required and leads to less power plant size.It reduces the cost of the aeroplane.
