Brain controlled robotic arm

Project Abstract / Summary : To make a robotic arm for handicapped people which can be controlled by human brain waves. We are using brain waves which are produced during eye blink. This eye blink waves will be fetched by a dry electrode and this will be processed. By analysing this eye blink brain waves, we are controlling a robotic arm. For our different kind of eye blink (Short blink and Long blink) different amplitude of signal will produced by brain. So we are dividing various range of this eye blink brain waves and we are defining arm movement for all of this range.

Why did you choose to work on this project topic : At present, methods like single unit, ECOG are used for controlling a robotic arm. But these methos will need operation to place chip inside skull. If any mistakes happend during this operation that will leads to a big problem. So in this project we are using EEG (Electro Encephalo Graphy) techique. So this method does not need any operation because we are using a dry electrode which will be placed on the forehead. And this method is low cost when compare to other methods. This robotic arm can be able to operate by any age people.
This project will be very much help for the handicapped people for the artifical physical support of arm which is directly controlled by the brain waves that is sensed by the electrodes and movement is controlled by the microcontroller therefore it is very much cost effective it may be useful for many disability.
