• BlinkMail is a new application that provides a unique way for Mac users to manage their mailbox. The all-new OS X mail app lets you speed through your inbox using just the arrow keys. Interesting thing about #-Link-Snipped-# is the fact that it focuses on email triage. For those who do not know what email triage is, it is the way of sorting through your Inbox determining what needs to be deleted, what needs to be archived and finally what needs your attention. BlinkMail is the latest product from Moscow’s YaM Labs, which provides tools for more efficient meetings and email add-ons like Powerbot.

BlinkMail has a user interface similar to gesture-based mobile apps like Mailbox, which allows you to take decisive actions like delete, archive, reply or send to Evernote or Dropbox quickly. Once you install the email client, you can customize Mac’s arrow keys as you want them to be. Navigation is done with the arrow keys, plus return, space and escape. Different functions can be assigned to the arrow keys, for example setting one as the delete or archive action, another for replies, one for adding a label, another for sending the message to a cloud storage service, and so on. This achieves BlinkMail’s overall goal that is, increased efficiency. The app is in beta right now and is integrated with Evernote, Dropbox, OmniFocus and Things for saving emails and notes. The company claims that the keyboard shortcuts enable users to get through as many as 100 emails in about 200 seconds.

Competing with the likes of other OS X mail clients- Sparrow or Airmail won’t be easy job for BlinkMail. However, it could serve as a complimentary app to your default mail. For Mac OS X 10.9 and above, it is free to download but a premium version which will includes support for multiple accounts, reminders and the Evernote integration costs $19.99 on the horizon.

The app does look promising. I'm however sticking with the Sparrow Mail App Acquired By Google for some time because it just works. It's sad that Google acquired it and halted the active development. Airmail is a good alternative, however I had issues getting it to display the incoming mail notifications in real time.

I would definitely give it a try but $19 is too huge and I have 5 email accounts to manage. 😔
