    why blind riser are used in casting but we have a option of side or top riser.
    can blind riser and top riser both used.
    actually i have to design a gating system for tractor hub.

    I think that you should use either a top riser or a blind riser. A blind riser being bigger than a top riser will also lose more heat to atmosphere. Well but it depends on your design. Wait for more opinions before implementing any method.
